Dr. Collins, Ellen, and now the new owner are just wonderful. We have been coming to Optix Eyewear for years. Main reason is -beside the service- Zeiss glasses and the latest & greatest technology supporting comprehensive eye exams. High end frames available European manufacturers is another reason. It's pretty difficult to mess up an Optometrist visit, but even with that said, I felt the need to leave a positive review of Optix.

As a new patient, I found it a bit difficult to parse Google Maps' directions to the location, but if you don't have an asthmatic, anemic hamster running the hamster wheel that is my brain, you should be able to find it pretty easily (it's in the mall on the second floor a little ways in, very obvious sign and everything). They were observing quarantine procedure, so you're supposed to knock on the door/call to let them know you're there for your appointment, then you get let in to a very clean, very pleasant-looking room. The receptionists were polite and informed me about all the new patient forms (that I was technically supposed to fill out beforehand and bring, but which they very kindly let me do there). And without much in the way of waiting, I got to see Dr. Collins.

I found Dr. Collins knowledgeable, friendly, and generally pretty great at his job. The routine tests were a quick and painless affair, and he kept a running explanation in layman's terms about all of the processes and what they were testing for so I knew what was going on for each test. All the devices were new and functioned well, and were kept very clean. He even managed to detect some increased astigmatism in my eyes (which my previous optometrist found, but never made explicit except for the inscrutable writing on my prescription sheet) and explain the condition quickly and even with some visual aids. We discussed a particularly niche piece of the field (VR interactions with the eye), which my previous optometrist had no clue about, but which Dr. Collins had a lot of information for. After we finished up, he informed me that while my vision had changed, it wasn't so extreme as to require a new pair of glasses - where previous optometrists have always tried to try to upsell me to get a pair from them, no matter how minimal the change. He simply asked if I wanted my new prescription as a walk-out (which I accepted), I paid for the tests, and we bid each other a nice day. A easy, pleasant experience overall.

The kicker - I checked my email afterwards, and I had shown up on completely the wrong day. The folks at Optix decided that they would kindly fit me into their schedule than inconvenience me with having to come back another day. Absolute 5/5 recommendation, I'll be going here for all my optometry needs for as long as I'm close by enough to come.

Friendly staff, great facilities, nice selection of frames

Dr. Collins and Ellen took phenomenal care of me throughout the entire process of multiple visits to check out frames, answering my many questions regarding quality of lenses and coatings, and the process within the labs etc. Ellen took great care to adjust my frames exactly the way I wanted them once the glasses arrived.

The technology that they use for the eye exam portion of their business is cutting edge, and their customer service and professionalism are superb. Also, they had the best frame selection around! I highly recommend Optix in Redmond for taking care of your glasses and eye exam needs!

Optix is a modern fully staffed optometrist with expert care and the latest equipment. My family has been going there for all our eye needs since 2015.

Dr. Collins is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and personable. He has superb expertise.

My family of 5 had our eye exams done, one by one by Dr.Collins and his wife. It's been a year since we were there and a lot in society has changed. Covid hit every one. I was happy to see the lengths at which Optix took the time to deep clean. Only two people are allowed inside the business (besides the Collin's) at a time. I felt that my family got the best eye care we could ever ask for during this time of Covid.

Our family has been going to Optix for a good part of ten years. He always has the coolest gadgets that make the eye exam interesting and up to date. We always come out of our appointment feeling good about our eyes and they have the best frames!

On a personal note, Dr.Collins and his wife are the nicest, coolest most modern couple that we know. They aren't snooty and we always end up gabbing too long about our personal family lives. Dr Collins is a highly experienced Dr (like in the good old days). He deduces the best prescription for me, each time, and is friendly and efficient as he guides me to it. His old world mannerism and experience are coupled with the latest technological advancements: best screening machines, best tools for building my glasses in the best frames.

The first time I put together a pair of glasses at Optix, I was troubled by the high cost compared to Costco, where I had shopped before. After I received my new pair I discovered a new world of glasses: Eye strain was gone, the frame was stunning and fit perfectly. It's been two years and I still wear these glasses and love them!!!! I highly recommend Dr. Collins and Optix for a long term solution to your ocular health. He has made a big difference in my life.

I had a fine experience. I do think the contacts are over priced. I kind of wish I had not gotten my first order there. The staff was nice and I did like Dr. Collins. He seems up on latest technology. I had a procedure done called Blephex to try and help my dry eyes...it was pretty painless and I feel it is helping (after like two years of using drops and ointments and such that didn't work.) I'll
Go back...just may not get contacts there.

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Collins and customers of Optix for over a dozen years. I usually don't give 5 star reviews... but they are deserving at least 5 stars... (details below)
First: Optix is not the cheapest option for eye care. If price is the primary criteria then "don't go". If you look for the best possible medical exams and care as well as frames that will get positive attention and compliments as they match "you" for many, many years (and don't look outdated quickly", then Optix is the place to go. Not only in the PNW, but anywhere.

Medical:
Dr. Collins is always staying up to date on his education and the equipment they use. He (and his staff) are courteous, explain details and also get to know the patients over their time.
Fortunately, for most of my family, the exams have been straight forward and uneventful with a few "double checks" if some result didn't provide enough information the fist time.
Key moment (and why we will sure be always grateful) was Dr. Collings identifying a eye tracking problem at my oldest daughter when she was 8 years old. Most doctors (at that time or even now) didn't even hear of the issue and the impact on "reading" and concentration ability this has for people for their rest of their lives. thankfully Dr. Collins referred us to a specialist in Lynwood (one of two in the Seattle area) and through eye-therapy (exercises), the issue was fixed and my daughter is today an avid reader and does very well at school. Without this intervention, our last 6 school years would sure been far more problematic and we wouldn't even know "why".

Glasses:
I don't like to spend money.... but every pair of glasses I bought at Optix exceeded expectations. Lenses were flawless. Frames: latest styles and the staff is really good at matching frame to a person's look and how they use the glasses. Result: I never got compliments about my frames before buying at Optix... But every pair of frames I got their have only gotten positive feedback. And yes, they take good care after the sale and adjust and clean and fix any issues.

while re-reading the text above, it feels like advertising... but no... this is not a "paid review" and every word stands.

These guys are amazing! I've been a patient since I first moved to the area 16 years ago. Continued as a customer even after I moved to Seattle. Dr. Bob and his staff are knowledgable, courteous, friendly and most importantly very, very good. Dr. Collins is continuously investing in the latest diagnostic technologies and provides an outstanding level of service. I highly recommend them.

I have been going (and all of my family) to Optix since summer 2007 and the experience has been consistently excellent. This is one of the few places in town that really puts its customers first and strives to give you a great experience, even if you do not plan on purchasing anything.
Dr. Collins always keeps up to date with the latest on technology for eye exams. He seems to always be looking for ways to improve the overall effectiveness of an eye exam and politely gives good recommendations for the daily care of your eyes.

I've been going to Optix and seeing Dr. Collins since 2003. He and his entire team are excellent. The eye exams he does are fantastic. He puts a lot of effort into staying up-to-date with the most modern techniques for assessing eye health and determining vision acuity. Since he has worked with me for so many years he has developed a detailed understanding of my eye health and how it has changed over the years and is able to give me excellent guidance about care I might need. His team does a great job in helping me select glasses and frames that work across a range of my needs, from progressive lens glasses for daily use to glasses that I use for computer work. They always have a very wide range of frames so I never get bored over the years selecting more serious looking ones for work and more fun ones for daily life.
